What We Do

 

Helping ton end child hunger in our country...

one backpack at a time!

 

The BackPack program is designed to meet the needs of hungry children at times when other resources are not available, such as weekends and school vacations.

The Berkeley County BackPack program was launched in November 2010, and provides weekend meals and snacks to some 200 children-- 117 of them in the Hedgesville schools. Another program, Bags of Love, provides similar resources to children in other parts of the country.

Ways to Help

  • Monetary donation with checks made payable to The BackPack Program.

 

  • Hold a food drive for the program

 

  • Purchase items on the list below

 

  • Volunteer your time with the program: help bag food, pick up and deliver food, or fundraising.

Suggested needed items

Juice boxes, fruit cups, peanut butter, microwavable individual meals such as mac'n cheese, Chef Boyardee, cereal (small individual-size boxes and regular-size boxes)

Food donations and /or monetary donations can be dropped of at:

BCT in Hedgesville or at Kisner Communications located at the Living Room in the Berkeley Plaza shopping area, or you can mail

 and one of the team members will be happy to pick up your donation.
